It is within this area that archaeologists discovered the remains of the oldest human occupation in Paris. Excavations were undertaken in the district of Bercy and helped to uncover the remains of a village in the prehistoric period (between 4000 and 3800 BC.), which was established on the left bank the former branch of the Seine, revealing a unique archaeological material : wooden canoes, all kinds of pottery, arrows and bows, bone tools and stone.
